Professional Goals, Hopes and Dreams
What are the issues regarding quality and early childhood professionals being discussed where you live and work?
I want to answer this question in my experience in Turkey. Whether there is a need for early childhood education, which teachers in many different branches are still discussing, and even our administrators talk about pre-school as a simple job that is played. The fact that this problem has not been solved at all levels of life and still in the USA and discussing it shows that the solution is complicated. The other problem is that early childhood care is the lowest-paid occupation due to a lack of adequate compensation.
What opportunities and/or requirements for professional development exist?
There are many opportunities and shortcomings for professional development in this area. The shortage is due to a variety of reasons, but one of those reasons is training requirements. Not many people see child development education as a career. For this reason, many of them do not have the knowledge necessary to be alone with children. This results in children being with unqualified teachers and, therefore, not having quality learning. My new understanding is that this field is one of the lowest-paid jobs; Early childhood educators need to work together to change this and increase their wages.
What are some of your professional hopes, dreams, and challenges? What are some of your professional goals related to supporting social equity?
My most important goals are to support my personal and professional development and to learn effectively. Before returning to work, I want to improve my professional deficiencies and specialize in leadership, especially I want to thoroughly learn the American school system and become a manager in school life. Lastly, I want to follow and learn and adopt new developments and approaches in education, then create new perspectives by blending them with my experience. I believe I have to do these learning to make a significant change in my students' and families' lives, and I want to continue to affect the lives of both children and their families. Although I have only been living in the US for four years and received less than a year of training in the field of the master's degree, I learned a lot from all my colleagues. I want to get better and continue to improve and help people live better.
