Breastfeeding
The bond between the mother and the baby that foundations of which are produced during pregnancy takes on a different dimension with the start of the breastfeeding process. While breastfeeding helps the mother and baby connect more, it helps to strengthen the bond and trust between them. For these reasons, I wanted to choose to breastfeed. I breastfed my two children for the time required for them. When my older son gave up sucking in the 3rd month, I fed him in his sleep and used him to feeding back from the breast. This struggle lasted for 3-4 months; it was the best for him, and he sucked two years. Then, It took quite a long time for her to give up on the breast.
Many medical experts, including the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, strongly recommend breastfeeding exclusively (no formula, juice, or water) for six months, and breastfeeding for a year at least with other foods that should be started at six months of age, such as vegetables, grains, fruits, proteins (Webmd.com).
Breast milk is the best nutrition that includes all nutritional elements for babies. Breast milk has a sufficient amount of oil, water, vitamin, and ferro. World Health Organization (WHO) recommends breastfeeding immediately after birth, feeding only with breastfeeding for the first six months, and breastfeeding after six months with additional food up to 2 years of age. It is known that babies who take breast milk are more resistant to diseases such as diarrhea, asthma, diabetes, and cancer, and mental development is better in these babies. Even then, according to the Lansinoh 2017 International Breastfeeding Survey data, the rate of breast-feeding between 0-3 months in Turkey is 7%, in Germany is 23%, in Brazil 12% and in France is 33%. The role of midwives is to inform the mother about breastfeeding from pregnancy and to help the mother in breastfeeding (Tunçkılıç 2019)
Every year October 1 - 7 weeks Breastfeeding Week is celebrated as the (some countries prefer to make in August but in Turkey October).
There are several reasons for the Celebration of Breastfeeding Week; encouraging mothers to breastfeed their babies and informing them about this; Educating the society on breastfeeding are some of them.
Breastfeeding is a miraculous act, just like pregnancy and childbirth. Pregnancy, delivery at the end of pregnancy, following your milk, and starting to breastfeed your baby are not considered separately from each other.

Hello Behice,
ReplyDeleteI truly agree that breastfeeding is a miraculous experience for the mother and child. It is necessary for the baby to receive as many nutrients as possible during the early years and for the mother to be aware of the types of nutrients the baby is receiving. There are many different sources of information about nutritious foods and ways of life. I wonder if there has been a study on breast feeding vs formula and if there is any effect on brain development. I've heard that the formula causes the children to gain weight and some children experience difficulty with processing the formula.
I really enjoyed reading your blog. I tried breastfeeding, but I did not do it as long. It is a great thing that forms a bond with your child. This type of connection is very important for beginning stages of development.
